In Interiors, we are faced with one’s internal thoughts and struggles in the confines and parameters of a domestic space. This video piece with a diaristic approach follows a day in the life of a woman as she copes with the lockdown due to the pandemic but also a lockdown she faces internally within the confines of a stranger’s home. Place and habituation are examined while living in a foreign country, as she dwells in an interior space with another person’s belongings, surrounded by the intimacy of their objects and furniture. Witness to the mundane, she deals with questions of boredom, repetition, stillness and contemplation. Family and friends are the objects of her introspection and comfort. What does it mean to invoke beyond the physical and mental confines, even momentarily?
