Non-objectivism meant the will to disengage art from reality: the represented shapes could only be ‘’actualized’’ in an abstract world. The installation plays on the turnaround of the factual presence of the abstract into the concrete, of the non-objective into the objective, by extracting the flattened forms found in Suprematist paintings in order to articulate them in a three-dimensional environment. The dynamism of this construction of lines is achieved by the visual projections and the renewed animation of the viewer through the active exploration of space.
This work was part of research – creation grant in support of culturally diverse artists, sponsored by The Conseil des Arts de Montréal (CAM), in partnership with the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec (CALQ). The six month long residency was held and presented at Perte de Signal art centre.
